These are the paintings I make just for the joy of painting.
They are undoubtedly inspired by a childhood chock-full of Archie comics, claymation, Sunday strips, the glorious kitsch of Pee Wee's Playhouse and the B-52's' music videos, and that old flickering film that plays at Drive-In theaters with the dancing hotdogs. The ideas behind these paintings are absurd at best. Some of them are quite stupid. But creating this strange, seemingly limitless, world where energetic anthropomorphic junk food coexists with robots and docile cute critters, and Gumby proudly displays his new pink lacy zebra-print panties is quickly becoming my favorite way to blow off stream. The world is pretty harsh. I need this outlet. :)

Catdrops are the cat-faced, paisley-shaped, pattern-covered creature that improbably can fly.
I started drawing and painting this preposterous imaginary creature in the mid-2000s.
